What is WebAR?
WebAR (web-based augmented reality) lets your audience scan a QR code, or open a link, and view your AR right in the browser, with nothing to install. One experience can hold a single artwork or a folder of up to ten, and anyone with the URL can view it. The short tutorial below shows how it works, and this guide covers everything step by step.
How do I publish WebAR?
WebAR is available on the Pro Plus and Business plans (and included in Enterprise). Once you are subscribed, publishing takes a few clicks:
- Open your artwork's options menu in Bridge and select Publish as WebAR. The artwork must be error-free to be recognisable.
- Or publish a whole folder of up to ten artworks at once from the folder options menu.
- Share your QR code or URL. Your audience scans or opens it, and the artwork plays instantly in their browser.
Fully branded WebAR for Enterprise
White Label WebAR: fully branded AR experiences
Your logo, your colours and your domain appear on everything your audience sees, and every trace of Artivive is removed. No app, no developers.
White Label WebAR is included in the Artivive Enterprise subscription. What's included:
- Your domain, logo and colours on the AR experience your audience sees
- Opens in the browser, no app to download
- Brings print, packaging and physical spaces to life
- Drag-and-drop editor, no developers needed
- Unlimited views, with statistics you can export
- Priority support, onboarding and a dedicated contact
To activate it, contact our support team (an active Enterprise subscription is required). Once we have your logo, colours and domain, your branded WebAR is live on average within 3 business days.
1Add an artwork to an existing WebAR folder
If your folder contains fewer than ten (10) artworks, simply move one more artwork inside and select Publish as WebAR on the artwork itself or on the folder. The URL won't change, so there are no disruptions.
If it already contains ten (10) artworks, move one out before adding another one in.
2Update an artwork already in a WebAR experience
Update your artwork as you normally would, then simply reload the WebAR page to get the latest version.
3Unpublish your artworks from WebAR
If you have shared a WebAR QR code or URL and want to prevent further engagement, open the artwork's options menu, select Manage WebAR, and then Disable WebAR in the top right corner. The same applies to a WebAR folder experience.
4What happens if I unsubscribe?
WebAR needs an active Pro Plus or Business subscription. If you unsubscribe and return to a Free account, the WebAR artworks can no longer be scanned.
5Are views counted with WebAR?
Yes, views work exactly the same way they do with the standalone iOS and Android apps.
6What are the limitations of WebAR?
The main limitation compared to the standalone apps is native performance and stability, and artworks are not always a 1-to-1 match to the app, so always test with the WebAR player before sharing. Specifically:
- No support for Timeline.
- Only one (1) Video Layer with audio can be played on iOS. This is a restriction from Apple.
- On iOS, Video Layer audio only plays automatically through App Clips, so share a QR code to be detected as such. Other cases (e.g. iOS Safari) may need a tap on the screen to unmute.
